ABS-CBN's "Ipaglaban Mo" is not only known for its wise legal advice based from real life cases but also for the dramatization of it. But in their recent episode titled "Abuso" featuring Shy Carlos, Edgar Allan De Guzman (more known to the public as EA), and Paolo Paraiso, the dramatization of the rape scene became way too much.
In the "Ipaglaban Mo" episode, Rina (played by Shy) is working as a maid to Anton (played by Paolo). Rina also became close to Anton's gardener and pool boy Lando (played by EA) and both of them developed feelings for each other.
Their relationship was tested when Anton became cruel to both of them. Anton puts a gun against Rina's head and forced Lando to rape her while being recorded on camera. The rape scene started to be uncomfortable when Anton told Lando to take off his shirt and also remove Rina's clothes. It became more disturbing and graphic when Anton told Lando to push the crying Rina on bed and be on top of her.
Viewers noticed that the scene of "Ipaglaban Mo" is not only gruesome, it was also already borderline soft porn. Some raised their concern that the rape scene was too much for the television.
Nasa creativity ng direktor at writer yun," Mir Grace wrote on her Facebook account.
Mackenzee Leeonie wrote his opinion on the intense scene, saying that there is no necessity for being that graphic.
On the other hand, some netizens praised the portrayal of the scene for it delivered the full content so that audience would feel the intensity.
